Welcome to The Summit Hall

Renowned as Queensland’s chilliest spot, The Summit greets visitors with a warmth that makes up for the frosty temperatures, a hearty welcome that lifts the spirits of those who journey to its lofty 924m. It proudly boasts the highest railway station, the highest maze, the highest roadside fruit stall… it might just be the highest community hall in the region.

After the original 1923 building was lost to fire in 1932, the tight-knit community rallied with such determination that a new hall rose within just six months. Funded largely through local efforts such as card nights, parties, and good old stump-cap fundraisers,  it was a true testament to the little village's spirit.

Today, the hall is a venue for hire, whether that be for parties, school functions or dance group rehearsals. It also serves as the home base for Boomerang Bags, a dedicated local volunteer group that has crafted thousands of reusable shopping bags from reclaimed fabric. Beyond their sewing skills, the group has played a vital role in raising significant funds to preserve and enhance this cherished historic landmark.
